Comprehensive preparation for the MCA Officer of the Watch (OOW) Oral Examination, covering COLREGs, bridge equipment, navigation systems, buoyage, watchkeeping principles, emergency procedures, and examiner-style questioning. The program is designed to build technical competence, confidence, and professional communication skills required for success in the MCA oral assessment.

Comprehensive coverage of COLREGs, Navigation Equipment, ECDIS, Radar/ARPA, Compass Systems, Buoyage, Legislation, Safety and Emergency Response.

Program Curriculum & Syllabus

Detailed coverage of COLREGs Rules 1–19, crossing, head-on and overtaking situations, restricted visibility conduct, buoyage systems (IALA Regions A & B), day shapes, sound signals, and examiner-style practical scenarios.

Operating principles, limitations, error management, and routine checks of ECDIS, GPS, Gyro and Magnetic Compass, Radar/ARPA, Echo Sounder, Speed Log, and GMDSS equipment.

Emergency response procedures for fire, flooding, collision, grounding, man overboard situations, steering failure, machinery breakdown, pollution incidents, and abandon ship operations.

MCA publications, Merchant Shipping Notices (MSNs), Marine Guidance Notes (MGNs), Marine Information Notes (MINs), Official Log Book requirements, ISM Code documentation, and MARPOL record-keeping obligations.
